Total Deception!

My family and I pulled into a gas station on Saturday afternoon, hubby had to run in and buy some ice so I pulled up and waited in the Suv with the munchkins.....

I was sitting there *maybe* 2 minutes when a man approached us and asked me if I would like to sign his "petition". I asked him what the petition was about but he had a HORRIBLE speech impetiment and it was virtually impossible to understand him...... I got "Workers Rights" then a bunch of stammering....

So I take the petition from him and READ it.... I'm not the type to put my signature on ANYTHING until I read it ALL....

I looked at the first page and their was nothing but signatures...... Behind that page there was an explaination of what it was for citing the new law that was passed and a few sections of the Ohio Revised Code.... I read it further and EVERYTHING within this document SUPPORTED the new law so I said YES I will sign it....

Let me back up here and tell you what the new law involves... Basically it shuts down all strip clubs from the hours of Midnight to 5 A.M. (when most of the crimes at these :ahem: prestigious establishments are committed) It also bans the "nude" dancers from ANY form of contact with patrons... I'm ALL for that as I always have been because I see it as NOTHING but prostitution and it TOTALLY degrades the woman.....

Sorry guys hate to bust your bubble but the truth is the truth!

Soooo I sign this thing feeling pretty good about it! My mom who is sitting in the backseat refuses to sign because she feels it's a scam.. Her question was a legitimate one (IE) Why would they be having you sign a petition in support of something that has already been passed in to LAW....

Well DOH why didn't I THINK of that......

So we get home, I unpack the groceries and sit down to an un-eventful night and I get a call from my mom......

That VERY day she received a letter from Kenneth Blackwell's office explaining this very SCAM that I had just partaken in!

The letter basically went over how deceiving the petition was and that strip club owners were trying to sneak enough signatures on a petition to try to get this overturned!!!!!

I was FLIPPING furious! Thankfully the letter goes on to say how to have your name REMOVED from the dam* thing..... (which I will do TODAY) .....

Now, someone correct me if I am wrong..... This in my opinion is a class action waiting to happen! It's FRAUD and TOTAL Mis-Representation! I would think that the Ohio Revised Code would cover this somewhere...... and (YES) I will find out :)
