I was going to label this particular blog "Harry Potter Vs. The Church" then I realized it's NOT the Church, it's NOT the Bible, and it's NOT "Religion" per say it's simply put
Ignorance and Hypocrisy
O' Brother I've went and ticked some folks off again eh? Well listen...... this is the way I SEE IT.....
I want everyone of you that have spoke up over Harry Potter to tell me if you've done the same with C.S. Lewis's "Narnia"..... NO? hmmmm Well, don't you remember that Aslan offered himself up to be killed in place of a boy sentenced to death.... yet Aslan rises from the grave the next day.... I don't remember a whole lot of panties getting twisted over that one......
What strikes me SO funny about this whole situation is the hypocrites that are speaking out about this will be the FIRST ones to sit down with their children, pop some popcorn and turn the Wizard of Oz on....
That's a "Classic" they say.... Well, that's hypocrisy at it's finest I SAY..
Honestly the whole argument just makes me roll my eyes....
It's another fine case of sweep your own back porch before starting to sweep mine....
I'm not going to defend Harry Potter, because quite frankly I don't think there is anything to defend.... I see the whole series as an excellent source of getting our children INTERESTED in a few things that are VERY important!
a) READING
b) IMAGINATION
c) Loyalty and Friendships
d) Fighting for something you believe in
Kudos to Joanne Rowling's for being able to bring back the LOVE of READING to our children!
